Calendar Events
Events from your connected Google or Outlook calendar aren't just displayed in Griply, they're editable there. You can reschedule a meeting, add guests, generate a Google Meet link, create a new event, delete one, and answer an invitation, and every change is written back to Google or Outlook.
Think of it as working on your real calendar through Griply's window. There is no separate Griply copy of the event: you're editing the thing itself.
Events appear wherever the calendar does, so you can open one from the Today calendar column, the Upcoming calendar view, or the iOS Calendar tab. See Calendar.
Note: Editing events and responding to invitations are premium features and are currently in beta. Seeing your events in Griply is free on every plan.
Creating an Event
Drag across an empty span on any calendar and pick New calendar event from the create menu. The span sets the day, start time, and duration.
On Desktop you can press 2 while the create menu is open to pick it immediately. See Calendar for the rest of the create menu.
What You Can Change
Open an event to edit it. Every property below is written back to Google or Outlook:
Property | Notes |
|---|---|
Name | The event title |
Date, start time, and duration | Editable in the dialog, or by dragging and resizing the block on the calendar |
Repeat | The recurrence rule |
Time zone | For events that cross zones |
Guests | Invite and remove attendees, with autocomplete from your contacts |
Google conferencing | Toggle on to generate a Google Meet link for the event |
Location | Backed by Google's search, so you pick a real place rather than typing an address |
Description | Free text on the event |
Calendar | Move the event to another calendar in the same account |
Show as | Busy or Free |
Reminders | The event's own notifications, separate from Griply's task reminders |
You can also delete an event from Griply, which deletes it in Google or Outlook too.
Adding Guests
Start typing in the Guests field and Griply suggests people from the contacts in your connected Google or Outlook account, so you can pick someone by name instead of typing a full email address.
Contacts are read for this one purpose. Griply never stores your contacts and never creates, edits, or deletes one.
Reading contacts is a separate permission from calendar access. See Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar for what Griply asks for and why.
Adding a Video Call
Switch on Google conferencing and Griply generates a Google Meet link for the event. Guests get the link the same way they would if you had added it in Google Calendar.
Answering an Invitation
For a meeting someone else invited you to, the event shows a Going? row with a Respond dropdown offering Yes, No, and Maybe. Picking one sends your answer back to the organiser through Google or Outlook, so you never switch apps to RSVP.
The event also shows the full guest list with the organiser labelled, so you can see who else is coming before you answer.
Next to the response options sits Propose new time. That one isn't handled inside Griply: it opens the event in Google Calendar or Outlook so you can pick the time there. The external-link arrow on it marks the hand-off.
How Changes Are Synced
Changes you make in Griply push to Google or Outlook immediately.
Changes made in Google or Outlook come back to Griply on a 5-minute poll. Press the refresh button at the top right of the calendar to pull them in straight away.
