Life Areas
Life areas are the foundation of Griply’s structure. They represent the key categories of your life (like Work & Career, Sport & Health, or Personal Development) and help you keep your goals balanced across what matters most.
When you set up your life areas thoughtfully, you’ll:
Get a clearer big-picture view of your priorities.
Keep your goals connected to what truly matters.
Organize tasks, habits, and planning more effectively.
If you’re completely new to Griply, start with Setting Up Your Life Areas to learn the basics before diving into the advanced options covered here.

What Life Areas Are
A life area acts as an overarching container for your goals, habits, and tasks. Linking your goals to life areas helps:
Maintain balance → Avoid focusing too much on one area while neglecting others.
Plan with purpose → See where your time and energy go.
Stay aligned with your vision → Life areas connect directly to your [Life Vision] in Griply.
You can keep the default life areas or customize them to fit your lifestyle.
Examples:
Minimalist: “Work” and “Personal”
Continuous learning: “Career Transition”, “Skills & Education”, “Personal Growth”
Identity-focused: “Community”, “Mental Health”, “Spirituality”
Inside a Life Area
Each life area has its own detail view with three tabs to keep everything connected:
Vision
Your vision describes what an ideal outcome looks like for this part of your life. It’s your personal north star — a way to stay connected to why this area matters.
Some tips on writing a compelling vision:
Dream big: Don’t limit yourself; imagine what’s possible.
Be specific: The clearer your vision, the easier it is to act on.
Visualize success: Add an image to make your vision more tangible.
Pro tip: Revisit your visions regularly. As your priorities shift, updating them keeps your goals aligned with what matters most.
Goals
The Goals tab shows every goal linked to this life area.
From here, you can add new goals, edit existing ones, or dive into their details. Since goals in Griply can also act as projects, this makes life areas a natural way to organize both personal and work-related ambitions.
Tasks
The Tasks tab collects all tasks and recurring tasks (habits) connected to this life area, giving you a focused view of what needs attention. This makes it easier to:
See all actionable items within one area of life.
Balance workloads across areas.
Spot areas that might need more attention.
Managing Life Areas
Adding or Editing Life Areas (Premium)

Griply includes a set of default life areas during onboarding, but you can:
Create custom life areas → For example, add “Daily Life Planning” or “Community & Identity”.
Rename existing ones → Adjust wording to match your preferences.
To add or edit a life area:
Go to the Life Areas tab in the sidebar.
Click + Add life area (or open an existing one to rename).
Give it a name, choose a color and icon.
Save your changes.
Reordering Life Areas

You can reorder life areas to match your priorities:
Go to the Life Areas tab.
Click and drag a life area up or down.
The new order is reflected everywhere, including your planning views.
Color Coding & Icons
Each life area can have its own color and icon, which:
Make it easier to distinguish at a glance.
Automatically apply to goals linked to that life area.
Pro tip: Use similar colors for related areas to create a visual grouping.
Favoriting Life Areas
Favorited life areas appear pinned for quick access.
To favorite a life area:
Go to the Life Areas tab.
Right-click the life area (or long-press on iOS).
Select Add to favorites.
Archiving & Restoring Life Areas
Archiving helps keep your setup clean without deleting data:
Archived life areas disappear from active views.
Goals and habits linked to them stay intact.
To archive:
Go to the Life Areas tab.
Right-click the life area → Archive.
To restore:
Scroll to the Archived section at the bottom of the Life Areas tab.
Click the archived life area.
Select Restore.
Where Life Areas Show Up
Life areas are deeply integrated into Griply’s workflows:
Goals → Linking goals to life areas ensures balanced progress.
Habits → Build habits within or outside life areas.
Planning views → Use life areas to visually group goals, tasks, and habits in your daily and weekly planners.
Vision → Align each life area with your broader life vision to keep long-term priorities in focus.
Best Practices for Organizing Life Areas
Keep it simple → Start with 6–8 core life areas to avoid overwhelm.
Customize to fit your life → Rename defaults, add custom areas, or delete unused ones.
Link your goals → While goals can be standalone, connecting them to life areas gives more structure and balance.
Review periodically → Revisit your setup during [Weekly Planning] or quarterly reflections to ensure it still fits your priorities.
