Plan Your Day & Week

Griply is more than a goal planner. It’s a fully functional task manager where your everyday tasks, habits, and plans can connect directly to your bigger goals and life areas. That means you can manage urgent to‑dos and long‑term ambitions in one place and make sure your daily work actually moves you forward.

When you plan your week in Griply, you’re not just reacting to what’s on your plate, you’re creating space for the things that matter most.

Connect Your Calendar

Start by connecting your Google Calendar or Outlook account. Griply uses a one-way sync (for now) to show your external events alongside your tasks.

Why it matters:

  • See your real availability before committing to tasks.

  • Prevent overbooking.

  • Protect focus time for your goals and life areas.

Example: If Thursday morning is already blocked for a dentist appointment, you can schedule your deep work session in the afternoon instead.

Capture Tasks in Your Inbox

Your Inbox is your capture tool, a single place to quickly jot down tasks, ideas, or reminders before they slip your mind.

It’s great for both work-related items and personal errands, whether or not they’re connected to a goal yet.

Why it matters:

  • Keeps your mind clear and focused on the task at hand.

  • Ensures nothing important gets lost.

  • Makes weekly planning faster because everything is already collected in one place.

How to use it:

  1. Whenever something comes to mind, add it straight to the Inbox, don’t worry about details yet.

  2. During your Weekly Review, sort Inbox items by:

    • Assigning them to a goal or life area.

    • Giving them a date (to show up in Today or Upcoming).

    • Adding tags for context.

Example: You’re in the middle of work and remember to “book a dentist appointment” - drop it in the Inbox now, plan it later.

Tip: This is straight from the GTD method. For a full walkthrough, see GTD with Griply.

Plan Your Week in Upcoming

The Upcoming view is your weekly planning hub. On the right, you’ll see all unplanned tasks from goals, life areas, and standalone to‑dos. On the left, your weekly calendar.

You can:

  • Drag and drop tasks into specific days.

  • Block time for goals (even before deciding specific tasks).

  • Block time for life areas (e.g., Fitness, Learning, Family).

  • Add habits to specific days so they don’t get lost.

  • Use grouping and sorting options (by priority, goal, tag) to plan more strategically.

Example: Reserve Monday 14:00–16:00 for “Write a book” without yet deciding the chapter. Or block Wednesday evening for “Family & Friends” to keep life balanced.

Tip: Use tags to batch similar tasks, like “Office” for computer work or “Errands” for everything you need to do while out.

Plan Your Day in Today

Once your week is mapped out, move to the Today view each morning.

Here you’ll see:

  • All tasks, habits, and events scheduled for today.

  • Task list on the left, calendar on the right.

You can:

  • Reorder tasks to set your daily priority.

  • Drag tasks into the calendar to assign start/end times.

  • Time block habits.

  • Filter and group by tags, priority, or goal.

Example: Start with your most important goal task, group admin work in the afternoon, and end with a habit like “Evening walk.”

Task Properties & Subtasks

When adding a task, you can set:

  • Name

  • Goal or life area link

  • Priority

  • Tag(s)

  • Due date & time

  • Recurrence

You can also add subtasks to break work into smaller steps.

For more, see: Creating & Editing Tasks.

Use Tags to Add Context

Tags help you group and filter tasks across all goals and life areas.

Why it matters:

  • Lets you batch similar work.

  • Helps you focus by hiding unrelated tasks.

Examples:

  • Home (chores, repairs)

  • Office (desk work, meetings)

  • Mindset (journaling, reflection)

  • Errands (shopping, deliveries)

For more, see: Using Tags in Griply.

Daily & Weekly Reviews

Planning once isn’t enough - consistent review is what keeps your system working and your goals on track. In Griply, that means taking a few minutes each morning, evening, and at the start of each week to check in.

Weekly Review (end of the week)

Do this before Monday morning (Friday afternoon or Sunday evening works best):

  1. Check your calendar for fixed events.

  2. Look at all tasks in Upcoming: from goals, life areas, and unlinked to-dos.

  3. Block time for your top goals so they don’t get lost in urgent work.

  4. Schedule recurring habits for the right days/times.

  5. Spread out big projects so you’re not overloaded on one day.

  6. Clear your Inbox by assigning dates, goals, or tags.

Morning Review (start of each day)

Spend 2–3 minutes setting yourself up for success:

  1. Open Today view to see tasks, events, and habits.

  2. Reorder by priority: start with your most impactful goal task.

  3. Drag tasks into your calendar to give them a time slot.

  4. Apply filters or tags if you want to focus on one type of work.

Evening Review (end of each day)

Close the loop so tomorrow starts fresh:

  1. Tick off completed tasks and habits.

  2. Reschedule or move unfinished items back to Upcoming.

  3. Capture any new ideas or follow-ups in your Inbox.

  4. Quickly scan tomorrow’s calendar so you’re mentally prepared.

Tip: This review rhythm is inspired by the GTD method, your mind stays clear because you trust your system to keep track of everything. For a full breakdown, see GTD with Griply.

Tips for Success

  • Protect your goal time like you would a meeting.

  • Always check your week before planning your day.

  • Schedule habits instead of letting them sit passively.

  • Use grouping, sorting, and tags to reduce context switching.
