A guide for setting up your goals, habits, and daily routines
Welcome to Griply! Your all-in-one system for turning big ambitions into everyday action.
This guide will help you set up a system that fits your life: from creating goals and habits to planning your day and understanding how everything connects. Whether you’re switching from another tool or starting fresh, this section gives you everything you need to build a setup that works and grows with you.
How Griply works: From vision to action
Each piece feeds into the next. As you check off tasks and track habits, you’re actively progressing toward bigger goals and ultimately, toward your vision.
Here’s a quick overview of the structure:
Life Areas: The big themes in your life (like Work, Health, or Relationships)
Vision: Your ideal outcome in each area, what a fulfilling version of that life area looks like
Goals: Measurable outcomes that bring your vision closer
Habits: Recurring actions that support your goals or bring more structure to your life
Tasks: One-off actions tied to a goal or added to your general to-do list
Subgoals: Milestones that help break big goals into manageable parts
If you want to see the full system at a glance, take a look at Griply’s Hierarchy and Griply’s Workflow.
Getting the Apps
To get started, download Griply for iPhone, Mac, or Windows, or use the web app in any browser. Everything stays in sync automatically, so you can set goals on your laptop and check off habits on your phone without missing a beat.
If you’re on iPhone, you can also install widgets to access your goals, habits, or to-dos straight from your Home Screen, ideal for building consistency with minimal friction.
Setting Up Your Life Areas
Griply’s productivity system is built around balance. That starts with setting up your Life Areas, the major themes of your life, like Work & Career, Sport & Health, Personal Development, or Family & Friends.
This guide walks you through choosing the right areas for your setup, renaming or customizing them, and deciding where to focus first. You’ll also learn how to add your own custom areas (a Premium feature) if you want more flexibility.
Life Areas are optional, but they make it easier to organize goals, spot imbalance, and stay aligned with what really matters.
Creating & Planning Your First Goal(s)
Griply is more than a basic task manager, it’s a goal-setting app that helps you turn long-term plans into actionable steps.
In this article, you’ll learn how to:
Set up a clear, measurable goal
Choose the right progress metric (like completed tasks, time, or custom values)
Add subgoals or sections to break things down
Plan your goals over weeks or months using the Upcoming view
Whether you’re launching a side project, saving for a trip, or working on personal growth, goals in Griply are flexible enough to fit your pace and structured enough to keep you on track.
Creating Your First Habit(s)
Habits create momentum. They’re the recurring actions that make big outcomes possible and Griply helps you track them with ease.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to:
Link habits to a specific goal or life area (or leave them standalone)
Choose a flexible or fixed schedule (daily, weekly, monthly)
Set specific targets (e.g., drink 2L of water, run 3x per week)
Track your consistency and build streaks over time
Whether you’re building simple routines or replacing an entire habit tracker app, Griply helps you stay consistent without overcomplicating things.
Planning Your Day & Week
Griply isn’t just for long-term planning, it also helps you stay focused day to day. With a clean daily planning interface, you can turn your goals and habits into an actionable routine.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to:
Capture quick tasks in the Inbox
Schedule habits and tasks into your Today view
Use the Upcoming tab to map out your week
Block time directly in your calendar with Google or Outlook sync
Organize your to-dos by goal, life area, priority, or custom tags
It’s everything you need to stay grounded and productive, without needing a separate calendar or to-do list app.
Tips for Switching from Another App
If you’re moving from a productivity tool like Todoist, Things 3, TickTick, or Notion, you don’t need to start from scratch. This guide shows you how to translate your current setup into Griply, including how to recreate recurring tasks, mimic projects using goals or life areas, and adjust to Griply’s more connected system.
This article is especially useful if you’re used to siloed tools and want to build a workflow that connects goals, habits, and planning in one place.
Installing Widgets on iPhone
Griply’s iOS widgets make it easier to stay consistent. You can add widgets for:
Your current goals
Your daily habits
Your to-do list or priority tasks
In this article, you’ll find setup instructions, widget examples, and ideas for using them to build more awareness and momentum, right from your iPhone Home Screen.
